Week One Of Filming

After the week after half term me and Caris decided that we need to start filming our scenes for our film as we had completed the script and had a genral idea of how we wanted to set each scene out and how we wanted our film trailer to look. We then found the members who wanted to be in our film so we tested them with the script to see if they were right for the part. Once we had found some of the actors we were able to film a couple of scenes in our sixthform as it created the right mise en scene for an office. we were also able to film a scene with 'Mandy' and 'Todd' by the pond, played by Sarah and Eddie. We came across a couple of problems, as we were shooting a scene by the pond the ducks and geese were causing some distrubance but we were able to get the filming we needed done. So the scenes were you could hear them we would use as ourtakes for our film of our blog. All in all we found that our first week of filming was quite successful and we were looking forward to filming the rest in the following weeks to come.

Contracting music artists

For our Film trailer we need to contact artists to ask if we are able to use their music at a later stage in creating our trailer. We are hoping we will get a quick reply.

Here we went on Arctic Monkeys offical website, http://www.arcticmonkeys.com/ also contacted them through Twitter. We used both of these websites to vary the chances of them replying. I left my email address on their contact page so we are now waiting for a reply.


We also contacted Ke$ha and Chairlift both through twitter again and Ke$ha's offiical website, http://www.keshasparty.com/uk and we are still waiting for approval from these artists.

Scripting

The scripting of our film trailer plays a huge part in our production. Although we have predicted it to run for roughly 2/2.5 minutes long we need to fully script all the scenes in which we are filiming for the dialogue to flow properly as we will be cutting the scenes down to fit the predicted time.

Once we had decided on a genre we were able to created a series of six story board sheets which we kept refering back to when creating the script for our film trailer.
















To make the scripting fair we split the storyboards by having three each and we both wrote out the rough scripting of our own storyboards.




















We then went threw and wrote up a detailed version of the script and decided what lines and scenes we wanted to changed and cut out. We also added in a couple more scenes which we thought might work well. Once we had done this Caris typed up the script onto computer and printed a copy off each for me and her and a copy each for the cast members involved.

Research

I started off by looking at various romantic comedy movie trailers on youtube to gather some information and ideas on what to base our film trailer on. Some on these trailers consisted of:

He's just not that into you

The plot chronicles the romantic misadventures of nine individuals in their twenties and thirties. Set in Baltimore, the common thread of the story is that one person in each relationship is more enamored of the other person than vice versa. At the core of these multiple stories is Gigi (Ginnifer Goodwin), a young woman who repeatedly misinterprets the signs that men give her about their level of interest in her.

The notebook

The story begins when Noah, age 80, walks into Allie's room in the nursery home, since Allie now has Alzheimer and she requested this. He begins to read to her and the story translates 49 years earlier. It begins with Allie returning to New Bern in search of Noah, since she saw his face in an article in the newspaper that was about how he restored an old house. When they met again, Noah was already wondering about her, so his old feeling for Allie begin to resurface and he is drawn to her again. Allie, engaged, also begins to feel old love for Noah to resurface, but stops herself since she is divided into two, whether she wants to follow her heart or what is best for her.

27 Dresses

Two things about Jane: she never says no to her friends (she's been a bridesmaid 27 times and selflessly plans friends' weddings), and she's in love with her boss, George, nurturing dreams of a lovely, romantic wedding of her own. She meets Kevin, a cynical writer who finds her attractive, and that same week her flirtatious younger sister Tess comes to town. Jane silently watches George fall for Tess, a manipulative pretender. Worse, Jane may be called upon to plan their wedding. Meanwhile, Kevin tries to get Jane's attention and has an idea that may advance his career. Can Jane uncork her feelings?

Juno

A tale told over four seasons, starting in autumn when Juno, a 16-year-old high-school junior in Minnesota, discovers she's pregnant after one event in a chair with her best friend, Bleeker. In the waiting room of an abortion clinic, the quirky and whip-sharp Juno decides to give birth and to place the child with an adoptive couple. She finds one in the PennySaver personals, contacts them, tells her dad and step-mother, and carries on with school. The chosen parents, upscale yuppies (one of whom is cool and laid back, the other meticulous and uptight), meet Juno, sign papers, and the year unfolds. Will Juno's plan work, can she improvise, and what about Bleeker?

Here is just a few examples of the movie trailers in which we looked at, which gave us some great ideas. I have also added some of the film posters that i have looked at which fit in with the preliminary tasks of creating a film poster for the trailer.

To make me film poster look as realistic as possible i will have to use a number of programs including Adobe Photoshop.

Wednesday 27th's lesson

In todays lesson we are currently updating out blogs with recent information and planning what we are going to do in tomorrow's (Thurday 28th January) double lesson. Me and Caris are also watching a coulple of film trailers on youtube to help us with our research.

Tuesday 26th's lesson

In this lesson we watched the film Zulu, set in 1879 featuring Michael Cain, this film is based on a true story, it tells the amazing tale of 100 British soliders who stood fast against an overwhelming force of 4000 of the Zulu nations mightiest warriors in the defence of Rorkes Drift.
I made detailed notes about the storyline in this Historical type action film which will help me out future on in this course.

Monday 25th's lesson

In this lesson we read through and annotated two newspaper extracts which were mainly about kidulthood. We then watched and made notes on four different film trailers from four different erers :
-Reefer Madness, 1936, drugs, american film, ideas about youth, actors old compared to their characters.
-Quadrophenia, 1970's, mods and rockers, violence, music, drugs, drinking.
-Look Back In Anger, 1950's/1960's, angry young men genre, issues about youth.
-Bullet Boy, 2005 mainly violence and guns.

In all of these trailers they are still portraying, youth in a bad way, stereotyping, concentrating on the same things, violence of some kind in all of them.
